Drawing international know-how from municipal practice

In order to further concretise local solutions and project ideas, Connective Cities arranges and organises expert assignments. For this purpose, Connective Cities relies on its pool of experts in order to provide relevant practical experience and expert know-how. The municipal experts offer advice at a local level and provide targeted support to municipalities in planning and developing their projects.

Via the assignments of experts, Connective Cities offers the opportunity to specially provide additional, internationally recognised expert knowledge derived from municipal practice. The Connective Cities expert assignments come in where the multilateral sharing of experience has reached its limits and work is performed on a particular issue, project or strategy in a specific local context.

Connective Cities usually seconds municipal practitioners for a period of three to five days. At a local level, the experts provide their experience, bring along proved practical examples and work on-site on local project ideas with the actors involved in a joint planning process.

The most important prerequisite for the assignments is a local demand and a concrete project idea or strategy that is to be further developed with the support of an expert. As a rule, the project ideas are first developed in our multilateral dialogue formats in order to be then assisted in the concretisation process at a local level. However, municipal actors can also directly address Connective Cities with the assignment request.

The resource: our pool of experts

For its expert assignments, Connective Cities relies on a data bank of experts in which currently 100 municipal practitioners are registered. They are available for international missions on the topics of sustainable integrated urban development, good urban governance, municipal services and local economic development in order to bring in and share their practical experience from German cities.
