The international cities platform Connective Cities and the CITIES DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE FOR ASIA (CDIA) will jointly organize a “Practice Laboratory for Effective Urban Infrastructure Programming”, to be held in Naga City and Manila, Philippines from 20 - 23 November 2017. The event will be held in cooperation with the Municipality of Naga City.
The Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA) was established to assist Asian cities to bridge the planning - infrastructure investment gap. Within this context, CDIA uses a demand-driven approach to support the identification and development of urban investment projects in the framework of existing city development plans that emphasize one or more of the following impact areas: 1. Urban environment improvement; 2. Urban poverty reduction; 3. Climate change mitigation or adaptation; and 4. Good governance.
CDIA has been working with client cities from several countries in Asia since 2007 to assist them in bridging the gap between their development plans and access to funding to finance their strategic urban infrastructure projects.
Connective Cities as an international community of practice for sustainable urban development that was initiated by the Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the German Association of Cities (DST) and Engagement Global gGmbH / Service Agency Communities in One World (SKEW), connects urban practitioners for exchange of experience and joint learning.
The purpose of the laboratory is to enable participants from Asian cities to develop projects through effective urban infrastructure planning, programming and additional infrastructure investments that contribute to sustainable development. The workshop is geared specifically towards supporting the planning of urban infrastructure and to develop a project-related action plan based on the exchange of experience with Asian and German urban practitioners. Participants will bring pre-formulated project ideas to the workshop and look for further exchange and recommendations on how to elaborate public private partnership (PPP) models for urban infrastructure projects.
We invite urban practitioners from municipal enterprises and administration who deal with relevant aspects of infrastructure planning and financing to register their participation. Connective Cities will cover all travel costs for German participants. For further information, please refer to the Call for Participation.
